Robosoft
ROBOSOFT is an INRIA startup, the National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control. Created in 1985 with the aim of robotizing personal services, just as industrial production was robotized in the 60s. These services include the fields of health, transport, security, cleanliness and research. We have designed and manufactured over 1 000 robots. With them we have transported over a million people in our automated vehicles, and one of our robots is cleaning the Louvre pyramid every three weeks for several years. In fields where we haven't developed our own robots, we carry out value-added distribution; as is the case for our military robots.
Role in DOMEO
ROBOSOFT is the coordinator of the project, and supplies robotic equipments based on our Kompaï robot.

ISIR
The Institut des Système Intelligents et de Robotique (ISIR) a research centre at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) which conducts crossdisciplinary research in complex mechanical systems, systems and control, and signal processing. It pursues the application of robotics and intelligent systems to biology, medicine, and neuroscience through fundamental and applied research. ISIR is associated with CNRS, or Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. ISIR is a Unité Mixte de Recherche (UMR) where both teaching and research take place.
ISIR is made up with three different research teams. DOMEO project deals with the "Artificial Perception and Handicap" group and t The "Human and Humanoid Motion" group.
The "Artificial Perception and Handicap" group strives to study human being through its diverse communication modes, verbal (speech) or non verbal (gesture, expression, glance ...) and action modes. It also devotes some research to visual augmentation. Then, the "Human and Humanoid Motion" group deals with the problem of dynamic control of human-like systems. The investigated control methods are model-based and we address the simultaneous learning of these models and of the behaviors that they give rise to. This research tends to contribute to understanding of human motion, with applications to the analysis of pathological posture and movement to contribute to the rehabilitation robot design as well as the control of humanoid systems and virtual human manikins.
Role in DOMEO
ISIR’s roles in DOMEO-project are as follows:
- To address the Human Robot Interaction (HRI) components of Kompaï and more precisely cognitive and memory assistances.
- To address the evaluation of basic components of Kompaï for the user localization task (in an interaction context).
- To interpret and to adapt the physical interaction between human and robuWALKER
CHUT (Telemedicine Department with formal links to Institut Européen de Télémédecine, and Gerontechnology La Grave Laboratory)
CHU Toulouse, Toulouse University Hospital, is the regional hospital of Midi Pyrénées. Midi Pyrénées is the widest French metropolitan region with 45 348 km2(the size of Denmark, bigger than Belgiumor Switzerland). Its role made it the first regional employer before Airbus. Having to attend such a big region it is no doubt that it had to be at the frontline of Telemedicine and eHealth. It was the place of birth of both the European Institute of Telemedicine university institute and the GIP RTeS@ Midi Pyrénées regionwide Telemedicine network, now GCS TélésantéMidi Pyrénées telemedicine activity management body under the authority of ARS Midi Pyrénées regional health agency. CHU Toulouse is a founder member of GCS Télésanté. Since March 2010, CHU Toulouse proved once again its commitment to access to care through innovative technologies with the creation of the Centre e-Santé Foundation (a member of GCS Télésanté). Sud-Ouest of France is known for its excellent quality of life and over-average longevity. CHU Toulouse has some of the leading teams in Geriatric medicine and Gerontechnology research and development gathered under the Gerontopôle. The La Grave Gerontechnology Lab is working since 2003 on the development of tailored technologies for the old and handicapped people, with a special emphasis on the inclusion of those with cognitive impairment.
Role in DOMEO
CHUT provides specification, research and development on special computer interactions for cognitively impaired patients (in collaboration with TAS), ethical reflection, discussion with NIMR and TUW on needs evaluation, lab testing of the provided robots at debugging stage (with Robosoft), deployment of the full telecom infrastructure and robots tests with that infrastructure. We will organize field testing at user’s premises, in our French region, when the different parts of Domeo will have acquired a sufficient robustness validated by the medical and care partners according to the results provided. We are expecting telemedicine service model field tests for the end of the project.
NIMR
The National Institute for Medical Rehabilitation (NIMR) is the leading rehabilitation institute in Hungary. It was established in 1975. It has 400 beds for in-patients, a day-time hospital and several out-patient services. It has an own orthopaedic workshop and a research programme for using advanced technologies in rehabilitation. NIMR took part at projects of the 5th Framework Programme of the European Union: the “Reharob-project” and “The measurement of quality of life in older adults and its relationship to healthy ageing” as well as at the “Alladin-project” of the 6th Framework Programme. In Hungary the education of specialists in Rehabilitation Medicine is based on NIMR. The Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of Semmelweis University is located here. The Institute takes part at the education of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, somato-pedagogues and nurses as well. The Institute has new central building; the conditions for patient care and research are really excellent.
Role in DOMEO
NIMR’s role in DOMEO-project are as follows: surveying users’ requirements, supporting development, executing laboratory tests, preparing investigation plan, gaining ethical approval, deployment of the robot in the end-users’ home, conducting field tests at home of the end-users and procession of the results. NIMR is the work package leader of the field tests.
