DOMEO finished on Dec 31st, 2012. It was the first project all over the world to bring assistant robots in real homes with real people, for more than 1 year.
This is an AAL Project, which focused on the development of an open robotic platform for the integration and adaptation of personalized homecare services, as well as cognitive and physical assistance.

The ail was helping elderly to stay longer and safer at home.
The DOMEO platform included :
- 2 types of robots (cognitive and physical)
- graphic and tactile interfaces
- voice recognition and speech synthesis
- cloud services for tele-presence
- tools for integration of various sensors and services
The middleware software platform (robuBOX) is now available in open-source.
DOMEO dealt with all the aspects of assistive robotics :
- robotic and internet technologies
- medical and non-medical sensors
- interface with home infrastructures
- ethical issues
- ...
To demonstrate and validate the potential of open robotic platforms, intensive trials (lab trials, site demos, patient's homes field tests) took place during the last year (until end 2012).
Key figures :
- starting date : July 1st, 2009
- duration : 42 months
